Fundraising at TASIS

You may ask why we expect our community to support fundraising for a private school like TASIS. The reasons are really quite simple: the tuition fees charged to attend TASIS support the educational, extra-curricular and operational needs of the school. As an independent school, we strive to reach excellence for our children in all areas, in the classroom, on the sports fields, on stage, in the community we serve and in the characters we build.

It is through our fundraising efforts, such as the Casino Night and the Reverse Lottery, that we are able to enhance the TASIS experience and take our school from ‘excellent’ to ‘amazing’!

This year, we are raising funds for the TPA to enhance the school with items that are not available to be funded out of the normal operating budget. Some of the ideas the TPA has discussed are as follows:

  • Contribute to a complete redesign of the Middle School Library, which will include a learning centre
  • Restoration of the Fleming Garden Victorian Greenhouse
  • Additional equipment for the Lower School Science Lab
  • Outdoor table tennis tables for use by all grade levels

In the past years the TPA has been able to provide funds for playground equipment, the robotics lab, pottery kilns, team benches for the sports department, music equipment, and many other things.

The Fleming Garden
The Fleming Garden has existed in one form or another for three centuries. Through a programme of restoration utilizing student and parent volunteers 90% of the Garden is in cultivation or being landscaped for that purpose. Upper Schoolers make significant use of the Garden earining Community Service credits or fulfilling their after school “Sport/Activity” requirement. Lower School students visit in large numbers, harvesting pumpkins and squash in the autumn and planting seedlings early in the spring. Other groups, including the Middle School Health Classes, the Eagle Scouts and the Lower School Wildlife Club make use of the Garden on a regular basis.
