19 Feb Enjoy the thrill of the chase at Ascot
Enjoy the thrill of the chase and experience a full day of exciting jumps racing and a Cheltenham Preview event at the Ascot Chase Raceday this month.
Taking place on Saturday 20th February, the Ascot Chase Raceday is one of the most prestigious Jumps meetings of the racing calendar and culminates in the Grade One Betfair Ascot Chase, which boasts a prize fund of £150,000 and often acts as a final outing for horses being geared up for the Ryanair Chase, or possibly the Champion Chase at the Cheltenham Festival in March.
This year’s event will celebrate National Hunt Racing as the horses prepare for Cheltenham. Hurdle and chase fences will be on display in the Grandstand, allowing racegoers to get up close and see just how high the horses have to jump. Guests will also learn all about National Hunt racing and, with the help of a Tipster board and a selection of vital statistics, may even pick a winner or two.
Betfair and Appletiser will be on-site, giving away freebies and promotional offers.
Following the racing Premier Admission racegoers will get the chance to take part in a preview session ahead of the Cheltenham Festival with one of the UK’s leading trainers, Paul Nicholls, and experts from Racing UK and Betfair. Also joining the line-up will be a top Festival Jockey who will be announced closer to the date.
Founded in 1711, Ascot has enjoyed more than 300 years history of Flat racing, but only hosted its first Jumps meeting in 1965 on the closure of the local Hurst Park. Over that period it has hosted some of the greatest names in Jumps racing including Arkle, Desert Orchid, Baraouda, Kauto Star and most recently, Sprinter Sacre.
