Hollywood superstar to host Wentworth Celeb-Am

Samuel L Jackson is set to host one of the biggest celeb-am tournaments of the year with his Shooting Stars Benefit charity event at Wentworth Golf Club from the 3rd to the 5th of August.  The 36-hole tournament on Virginia Water’s hallowed turf will welcome 48 players divided into teams of four, with each side led by celebrity captains including Colin Montgomerie and American actors Haley Joel Osment and Luke Wilson.

Jackson’s Shooting Stars Benefit, which also announces FitFlop as its lead sponsor, will donate all proceeds to Make-A-Wish Foundation UK– a charity that grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses.

“Make-A-Wish Foundation celebrates its 25th anniversary this year and I am pleased to confirm that proceeds will help grant the wishes of children fighting a life-limiting condition,” said the Pulp Fiction actor.

“I am looking forward to taking part in the event where we will all be trying to raise as much money as possible.”

“Money raised from this 2011 tournament will help grant the wishes of some of the 20,000 children and young people in the UK with life-threatening illnesses,” added FitFlop founder Maria Kilgore. “We are thrilled to be part of making that happen.”

The event will also comprise of a Pairing Dinner at Britain’s luxury goods establishment Aspreys in London on August 3 and a closing ball and auction held at the Royal Courts of Justice on August 5.
