The ‘Michael Wignall at the Latymer’ Restaurant (Pennyhill Park Hotel, London Road, Bagshot, Surrey GU19 5EU) has been awarded the highly prestigious accolade of five AA Rosettes in the 2012 AA Restaurant Guide announced on 26th September.
The Latymer is only one of eight UK restaurants to achieve this sought after award. The AA stipulates that to achieve five Rosettes is ‘the pinnacle, where cooking compares with the best in the world. These restaurants have highly individual voices, exhibit breathtaking culinary skills, and set standards to which others aspire to, yet few achieve’.
Michael joined Pennyhill Park in November 2007 and together with Bruno Asselin (Restaurant Manager) and Davide Vaccarini (Head Sommelier) and re-launched the restaurant at this time. Just over a year later in January 2009 the restaurant was awarded its first Michelin star and four rosettes. They have worked hard to escalate this award to its highest level are honoured to be recognised.
Michael’s natural flair in the kitchen, expertise and passion for food has led to the restaurant fast becoming one of the finest places to dine in the country. Michael comments, “This is a fantastic win for us and really pays tribute to all the hard work that we put in. From day one we have sought to achieve something out of the ordinary at The Latymer so to be recognised in this way by the AA and alongside such eminent restaurants is a real privilege.”

‘Although we regularly change dishes, unusually we have introduced five new ones to the menu in one go. Soft fruit is in its prime at present and our herb garden is in full powerful swing.
The scent as I wandered through the garden was intense and inspirational – it was the best time to capture the benefits, drawing on the superior taste and heightened flavour it can provide now.’
